Cottonwood marathon. blahh. extra mile because our bus broke down and we had to walk to top till another bus came and got us.
i felt nauseated night before. just decided to see how it would go. Morning of the race felt good. decided to run. I didnt want to push it. so i didnt run with amy (she was trying to qualify for boston).I just thought under 4 hours would be a good run. I got 4:10. Not my best, but not my worst...but I am happy with it! I would catch my self running to fast on some of that steep steep downhill. I had to slow myslef down. got to like mile 19 felt extremely nauseated. and threw up. ran/jogged till mile 21. I then saw steve hooper and kendra hooper (i believe steve had already finished, he was there for moral support for kendra!! it was nice to see a familiar face). but at this point, i felt so crappy that i just decided to walk, my legs and calves were on fire.....well once i started walking, i just ended up walking in last 4 miles. !!! Oh ya...the worst part of the race was that i chafed....i have never done this before. Thats what I get for wearing new shorts! My inner thighs got all bloody. I looked like i had my period...Sorry TMI....but it was humiliating...but funny now that I am typing!!
Pros. downhill, easy to run fast
Cons. Toooo downhill in my opinion. i trained on downhill, but still i didnt feel remotely prepared for all the pounding.
Next time: well i probably wont be doing this race again!!! hahaha. its just to close to the SG marathon. The extreme downhill feels awful on my body! If im sick the night before, probably wont run. That felt tortortous!
