parents were visiting today...so we had to take advantage of a free babysitter! Ryan and I did a 70 mile ride. We did the Veyo loop (45miles). I did it in 3 hrs (my fastest time yet!) and then we added on 25 miles! My butt is sooooo sore!

Any time you run with a jogging stroller, you should take off 1-2 minutes per mile from your time. Seriously! Those things make hills into mountains.

biked 90 miles today! I did a double Veyo loop of the IronMan course. I did the first loop with Ryan, kristie & new friend tiffany gust. The second loop was just me, my husband and my aunt FLOW!!!

 Sorry TMI.....I know!!  haha ha...it was actually very funny!

 

The first loop was great. I didnt really feel tired. Halfway into the second loop I was starting to feel it. After climbing all those hard hills I was done...but had like 20 miles left. Thank goodness it was mostly downhill. There was a horrible headwind, so it felt like I was standing still peddling. Ryan was nice enough to slow down, to let me draft off him until we got back to St George, where it was less windy!!! I have an awesome husband!!

Crazy to think I was on my bike for like 7 hrs....I kept thinking that, that is like a whole day of work for most people...so crazy!

 

Im not in any rush to do this again, think Ill stick to the single loops!  I did however sign up for the Tour De St George in April for the 100 Century ride.

finally not sore from last weeks bike ride! ran 3 on TM today. Ryan in Las Vegas today doing the LeadMan Tri.....He said it was the Absolute Hardest Race he has ever  done (Even harder than the SG Ironman)...mainly because there were 50mph winds. He thought he was going to either drown or get hit by a car. Im glad I didn't do this race....i had thought about doing it!

swam at the lake...wetsuit and all. oh my gosh, i was not ready for the cold. I knew it was going to be cold, but to experience that feeling of not being able to breath...it was very scary.  A guy that came with us "Sam" about half way, he got very dizzy and disoriented. He wasn't wearing earplugs, so I think the cold water was playing mind tricks. I swam back with him to the shore...he kept asking me questions like..." where am I"  and "am I under water", he also would tell me that he was "scared"....so weird and scarey...it cut my swim short..no worries though.... I  am just glad he is ok! This is a major reason why NOT to do open water swims alone!!!!

Tour De Saint George 101 mile bike race. Yeah! I did it!  I rode the whole way with Tiffany. I had a great time, despite the cold, cold, cold, COLD weather and Rain. I was soaked to the bone! Over half the people dropped out! We must have been the last to arrive, because after we came in, they started packing up!!! 

Tiff and I got a flat tire at the same exact time with only 5 miles to go. Our fingers were so frozen, we couldn't even change our tire. I called Ryan to come and change our tires! He was there in a few minutes (since we were only 5 miles away)...he tempted us by saying he would give us a ride back....but by golly...i came this far, i wasn't going to stop now.  

 After we started for the last descent, it started to POUR...so bad that I wished my glasses had windshield wipers!!!!

 Ryan did it too and finished 2.5 hrs before me, he said he was shocked that when he got done that the car was still there because he thought I would have quit hrs ago and would be at home in a warm bath....I love it when i am underestimated....it makes me look cooler!!!

A warm bath I did take after I got home. In fact I kept refilling the tub with warm water until our water tank was empty!!!!!

Now I am ready for bed!!

Anji! Congrats on your bike race, you are a trooper in that rain!

Oh my HE** (heavens) I feel SO out of the loop- I had no idea you were doing the ironman! Anji that's so AWESOME, I'm not surprised, I"m super excited for you! I can totally relate to your open water swim this last week, I had a complete "freak out" experience 2 weeks before ironman, where I hyperventilated and I thought I might drown! I had to go back to the lake and swim that same night just to prove that I was going to be ok, it's like getting bucked off a horse and getting back on to prove who is boss! Anyway, I'd love to chat with you sometime! Take care and I'll keep in touch with ya, I've been so busy I'm way out of the loop!

amber- thanks....am your not really out of the loop because i haven't even officially signed up for IM yet!!!! The last few yrs I have seemed to be cursed and I get injured right before the race I am training for.....so I really am not signing up till like the week of!!! hee hee. silly I know.... some days I don't think I am doing it...and others I'm totally for it!!! I still am not running much, but I figured I could walk most of it, like everyone else did!!! (well except for maybe you, I think you are the only person I know who actually ran pretty much the whole thing!). Do you have a bike yet??? I would love to have more biker buddies!!

swam 1 mile at lake with Andrea and then we biked from Sand Hallow and did one loop of IM course. I then came home and biked 7 more miles because Ryan is letting me use his nice wheelset for the IM and I just had to try them out! So hot today! 90+ temp. I just kept drinking tons and tons and tons! I think I drank plenty because I had to pee 4 times on our ride!!! Im getting nervous for IM.....I still havent signed up yet...I love that I can change my mind at any moment!

Woke up this morning and legs felt better. Still regretting doing that workout on monday. Jillian Michaels is so hardcore!

I decided a few weeks ago to go ahead and do the marathon. I haven't been training at all. Since the Ironman I had NO desire to do anything. About the end of July I decided to start running again. well mid august, my infamous IT band started to hurt. So, I decided to just ride my bike and forgo the marathon. There is always another year! 

Well my neighbor and friend Breanna (who just had a baby and 2 surgeries in the last 3 months) decided to do the marathon. She is an AMAZING triathlete, but this was her first marathon. So I decided that I would do it with her. We ran a few times. I think her longest run was 10 miles, mine was like 12 ish.

The morning of the race woke up. Ryan and Breanna and I rode the bus up together. A few days before the marathon Breanna was having doubts about finishing the race. She told me that she was running with her phone, and was probably going to call her husband to get her at half way. (I was totally ok with that, but if I wasn't going to do the whole thing with her, I just decided to do my own thing).

This race was fun for me. I was NOT nervous one bit. I didn't care what my time was, I was just gonna run off of FEEL! I had NO expectations....I loved it!

I just finished using the porta potty when the race began. I jumped in and started to run. I actually had no idea if I was in the front pack or back. I just started to run a pace I liked. I saw a few friends pass me. Cheri and Jaime Egbert. So I realized I was in the front of the pack. These are fast girlies...so I slowed way down!

Around miles 8-14 I kept wondering WHY is this considered a downhill course...I was going a gradual uphill for 5 miles and it was sooo HARD. I just kept plugging away, but was waiting for the downhill!

Around mile 16ish, the 3:35 pacer past me.... good heavens. I didn't even know that I was running that pace. It did feel good, I wasn't overly tired. I just felt it in my legs. I tried staying with them until about mile 19ish. Then decided it was just to much to keep running that pace. My legs were so heavy...I had energy...but legs so heavy (this is wear I was cursing Jillian Michaels name oh ya, and mine for trying to go a faster pace on NO training!)  

At this point I was about mile 22ish. The 3:35 pacer was out of view, but I decided to just keep plugging away and maybe I could get in the 3:40 range. I just wanted the race to be over!! My IT band started rubbing BAD....but I thought if I walk, its just going to prolong this torture, so I kept plugging away!

At the top of Diagonal st is Ryans moms house. I ran past and said HELLO. They wanted me to stop to take a picture. I actually probably would have, but I was afraid I couldn't get my legs going again. I knew if I could just bare with it for 2 more miles...I would be soon done!

Crossed finish line at 3:44. Yeah I was DONE! I am pleased with my time considering my LACK of training. My quads and hips are so sore. I don't think I have even been this sore from a race in my life. I didn't feel tired mentally, it was all physical!

Later someone told me that I missed qualifiying for Boston by 4 minutes. I was like, NO I missed it by 9 minutes. Since I am 33, I was to get under a 3:35. They told me that this time is good until 2014 Boston RACE. and in 2014 I will be 35 yrs old, So I only needed under a 3:40.  What!!!!! how come I dont pay attention to such important details...

Oh well, I am totally happy with my race and have no regrets, I think I did great especially with no training. It actually made me excited to train for a marathon again in the future, cuz maybe I could do even better! And althoug it was fun. Maybe next time if I don't train, I will just run it for fun and not try.   I am gonna regret life for the next week or so...

I am terribly sore!

Finally! Haha! That's a great marathon time for someone who didn't train properly for one. At least in my book it is. You are a strong athlete. Enjoy your pain. And please don't curse my girlfriend's name anymore. I love Jillian. So much.
