up in Island Park Idaho with Family. Rode 62 miles with my brother Mike.  I did this ride last yr. It called "the block". Started in West Yellowstone, rode a big loop going into Islandpark Idaho then back into Montanna.  such a great ride and rode with my brother Mike, who seems like I never get one on one time to talk with!!

rode with Mike in Island Park again. We did Mesa falls out and back today. started at the Highway turn off, rode past Mesa Falls, Rode to the Teton Overlook (gorgeous) and all the way down to warm river springs and back.  The whole way back was uphill. It was quite the workout!.....Mike really wants to do a Full Ironman...He is trying to talk me into one!

rode to airport and back with Heidi and Haley. Then did 21df upperbody!....oh ya....so my brother talked me into an Ironman.  This will be his first. My second. He wanted to do one next month...Um NO! So, the only one that was this fall that we could both do that wasnt sold out is the Iron distance race in Palm Springs in December.  (Its actually not hosted by the "Ironman" company...but it is an Ironman Distance race.) Its hosted by the HITs series.  A positive side to this is its way cheaper to do it. 400$ instead of 800$.  They said avg temps is in the 60s (yeah). And the bike course is flat!  Maybe a negative is that sometimes you get what you pay for as far as "race support"..... but I am way excited!!!!! It will be fun to do with my bro. He said he wants to do the whole thing together slow.....he better be right, cuz I only want to finish it and have fun!

First day of school for the kiddos. I got someone to cover me for work for a few hrs while I got kids off the school. Since, I didnt need to be into work super early, I decided to go on a morning run with heidi, brooke and court. my knee felt totally fine until last mile. Im pretty sure it was from hiking the subway last wk. (everytime my ankle gets twisted, I end up getting fibular head pain in my knee due to lack of motion in my ankle....weird, I know).  Called Adam massage therapist and he said he could squeeze me in for 30 min before I went to work.  Hope it works!

red rock relay.  joined 24/7 performance team (amber, court, alison, brooke, katie G, kristen T).  I felt honored to be apart of the team.  Their usual members were injured and I was totally honored to be asked.  However, we didnt have enough for a 12 man team and being unable for a refund, we decided to go run the relay for fun and run as many miles as we desired.  I ran 18. I did 13 with court and alison. 3 with brooke and 1 alone!  its was fun and a great day and loved that i got to sleep in my own bed!!

had staff mtg this morning early so i didnt my run at 10am after kids were to school.  did 3x1.5 mile. avg paces= 730, 730, 750.  I progessivley got 10 sec slower with each split.  Haha..not sure if it was the heat or i was running alone or i just stopped caring. but its done! yeah.  going to go to yoga again tonight to try and loosen my back more

After hurting my back on monday, I wasnt even sure if i could do a marathon. 2 chiropratic txs, one massage, and having my back KT taped up the day before, I decided to try it.  

first 8 miles (I didnt want to push it, I didnt even know if I could finish) ran with courtney. we kept about a 810 pace.  after that, i decided i could run, but i still didnt want to kill myself.  next 8 miles i ran (uphill) about a 820 pace.  Last 10 miles i ran about a 800 pace.  I had to slow way down on the downhill, i felt jolted in my back during that part. Other than that it was ok...

Crossed the finish like 13 seconds slower than last yr! I was very happy.  My back however, feels on the fritz...but it was nice to know I did about the same with an injury....which makes me hopeful!

did Palm Springs IronDistance race 140.6 with Mike my brother.  We drove down and Mike and his wife flew from Austin.  This was Mikes first Tri longer than an olympic and he was awesome.  I was really great to do this with him.

The water temp of the swim was insanely cold at 53 degrees.  we did two 1.2  mile laps in the water. It was so cold the first half mile i could barely put my head in the water.  After that I felt ok... probably the last half mile of the swim my body began shivering so bad and i got a leg cramp.  after stopping and kneading it out....i endured to the end!!!!!  Swim time @ 1 hr 30 min.  (Mike finished 1 hr 28 min)

Transition was so hard. I could barely move i was shivering so bad.!!!

Onto the bike. The bike was 4 out and backs.....I thought I wouldnt like it....but i loved it... since mike is a way faster cyclist than me it gave us a chance to still bike together. Basically he would bike ahead and then hang out at the aid stations. Ryan did the first lap with us!  The last 25 miles were grueling and I was seriously wondering why I put myself through these things.. avg bike around 17mph. time 6 hrs 45 min

Transition. Legs were jello. I totally stripped and didnt care who saw!!! lol...I was so over the point of caring....i needed fuel!

Run:   Or should i say walk.  LOL....actually we probably ran first 11 miles....then walked the rest.  It gets super dark in Cali this time of yr and it was completely pitch black at 5pm.   Ryan rode his bike along side of us and got us what we needed.  we got us our head lamps...which were a must since there were no street lights.  The run was also 4 out and backs.  Which shockingly I liked.  Mikes knee was hurting and we ended up walked most of the marathon.  I was totally fine with it. He waited alot for me on the bike and my whole goal of this was to do it togther!!!!  Finished around 6 hrs.

Pros:  This course was vastly different than the SG full ironman. It was a completley flat bike and run.....It was alot easier in this way....however I am a hill lover. Cost was low!

Cons: Less organized than an Ironman sponsered event. water so cold.

would I do this again....You bet...I loved it!
